SAE Expression College, located in Emeryville, California, offers the Animation & Visual Effects Bachelor’s Degree program, which can be completed in as few as 32 months.
Training with the same professional equipment and software used to create some of the highest-grossing movies and video games in the industry, students learn the entire animation pipeline from concept to completion with the opportunity to focus their skills in a chosen specialty including modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, rendering and more.
With a student to teacher ratio that averages 8:1, Animation & Visual Effects students are afforded personalized instruction and support from industry-experienced professionals who have established careers in film and animation.
Rounding out the program, students work together to develop and create a short animated film where they apply the technical skills learned throughout the program and experience the full production pipeline in a real world setting.
Emeryville, known as Rotten City, is a state-designated Cultural Arts District that is also home to Pixar Animation Studios. Senior students may apply for SAE Expression College’s Pixar Mentorship Program, in which they are paired with a Pixar artist who helps them refine their portfolios and provides feedback on their capstone projects. Two Pixar artists are currently mentoring select senior students one-on-one each week. Additionally, SAE Expression College has strong partnerships with local studios and technology companies offering potential employment for graduates.
