Scope of Program:
The University of South Florida offers its Graphic Design undergraduate program at its St. Petersburg campus. Students must complete prerequisite courses in visual art history, drawing and studio art before applying to the program. A portfolio is required for admission to the Graphic Design concentration. Accepted students take coursework in typography, graphic design, visual communication, multimedia systems, digital media and visual design for the internet. Students complete a portfolio and may participate in a practicum or internship. A senior thesis is required. Electronic and Digital Media students focus on pre- and post-production, narrative video, digital imaging, animation, web art and Flash animation.
All students must buy a MacBook Pro laptop computer and design software. Florida residents are encouraged to apply for Bright Futures scholarships. Need-based and merit scholarships are available, including USF Foundation and Art Department scholarships.
