Scope of Program:
All B. F. A. candidates at the University of North Carolina Charlotte must complete foundation courses in drawing, 2D design, conceptual practices and beginning studio in their concentration and pass a B. F. A. portfolio review in order to be admitted to their chosen program. Digital Media students continue with coursework in animation and interactivity, digital media projects, visual arts, video art and interactive art and design. All students create a senior exhibition and complete a senior seminar and internship.
Graphic Design students focus on graphic design methods, typography, environmental design, print production and communications design. All students create a senior exhibition and complete a senior seminar and internship. Illustration students concentrate on illustration media and methods, the figure in illustration, sequence and story, illustration projects and children's book illustration.
All students create a senior exhibition and complete an internship and senior seminar. A portfolio is required for admission to the major. Merit and need-based scholarships are available. North Carolina residents may apply for state-funded scholarships and grants.
