
The state of Massachusetts is home to some of the world’s top colleges and universities. Harvard University, MIT, and Amherst College are just a few. Although many top Massachusetts colleges and universities offer outstanding art and design programs, so far, we found only one standout that offers programs for aspiring game designers & developers.
Northeastern University is conveniently located in Boston on a 73-acre campus. It offers bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, post-master’s, and first professional certificates. With an undergraduate student population of around 15, 905, Northeastern University is one of the largest universities in the state. Many students are local, while others come from all states across the U.S. Ten percent of the student population represents 119 countries outside of the U.S.
Northeastern University offers a wide variety of degree programs for artists and designers. Degrees offered include a B. F. A. in Digital Art, Graphic Design; Combined Majors in Game Design, Interactive Media (type of degree awarded depends on the combination chosen), and an M. F. A. Studio Art. Undergraduate students paid $37,840 for the 2011-2012 school year and graduates paid $27,360.
Northeastern University is one of 124 accredited colleges in the state of Massachusetts. As stated, many of the state’s post-secondary schools are top-tier, including Northeastern University. Massachusetts’ top schools rank high based on a variety of factors such as cost, convenience, job placement services, types of student clubs and organizations, intramural sports, cultural opportunities, facilities, population, and even Greek life. While many of the state’s top schools are pricey, they are also Title IV, which makes them eligible for a variety of financial aid programs.
