Founded in 1928, University of Arkansas - Fort Smith (UAFS) serves more than 6,500 students enrolled in dozens of programs leading to bachelor's degrees, associate of arts degrees, associate of general studies, associate of applied science degrees, certificates of proficiency, technical certificates and more. Programs are offered through seven colleges. The College of Applied Science and Technology offers a BS in Animation Technology (BSAT) that prepares students for immediate employment in a wide variety of computer graphics related jobs.
Per the school, the BSAT is “designed for students who have completed an associate of applied science degree (AAS) or associate of applied technology (AAT) from an accredited institution with 44 hours of technical professional coursework in computer graphic technology (CGT).”
Sample courses for the 120 credit hour program include Computer Color Applications, Digital Production Techniques, Lighting and Rendering, Motion for Applied Animation, Recording Methods for Historical Structures, and 3D Advanced Concepts. Students will complete a Senior Capstone Project and an optional internship is also part of the program.
Upon completion of the program, students will have a completed portfolio and the skills needed to seek positions in applied animation (training videos for police and industry), medical animation, and legal animation as well as at TV stations, game design companies, and film studios.
