Tuition Information: Undergraduate residents $5,230, nonresidents $12,742 for the 2012 – 2013 school year. Tuition includes all mandatory undergraduate fees. Tuition does not include a $16 per course "Course Enhancement Fee."

Scope of Program:
All Visual Communication Arts students at Texas A&M University Commerce complete the Visual Communication core, which includes courses in typography, digital imaging, electronic media, art direction, design communications and advertising art concepts and copywriting. Students must pass a portfolio review to be admitted to the major and pass two additional portfolio reviews to complete their degree program.
Students in the Art Direction emphasis focus on electronic media, multimedia, interactive vector graphics and animation, internet development, art history and graphic design history. Students in the Design emphasis concentrate on electronic media, design communications, letterpress, art and design history and internet design. Students who choose the Illustration/Copywriting emphasis complete coursework in advanced drawing, illustration, airbrush painting, 3D painting, art of the book, advanced writing and copywriting. New Media students take courses in Internet development, multimedia, 3D animation and painting, interactive vector graphics and animation and art history. Photography students complete courses in advertising and commercial photography, environmental portraiture, documentary photography, food photography and art history.
A portfolio is required with the application to the B. F. A. Visual Communication Arts program and for consideration for art scholarships. Art, merit and need-based scholarships are available. Texas residents may apply for state-sponsored scholarships and grants. Texas offers a wide variety of nonresident tuition waivers, including bordering state interior county tuition discounts.
