Scope of Program:
Georgia Institute of Technology, popularly known as Georgia Tech, offers students the opportunity to obtain a B. S. degree in Computational Media in four years or the same degree and a M. S. in Digital Media in five years. The program is math-intensive and focuses on the computational and programming aspects of game design. Bachelor's degree candidates take courses in calculus, computer programming, visual design, data structures and algorithms, computer media, digital art, artificial intelligence, game design and intelligent story systems. Students complete a capstone project. Digital Media Master's degree candidates may choose a thesis option or a project option.
Undergraduate students in the Computational Media program may opt for one of Georgia Tech's three professional practice plans. The Co-op Plan allows students to alternate semesters of full-time study with semesters of full-time work. The International Plan gives students the opportunity to take courses in international relations and economics, learn a foreign language and apply these studies to an overseas research, study or internship experience. The Research Option allows Georgia Tech students to engage in long-term research with the goal of writing an undergraduate thesis.
Georgia Tech offers many types of scholarships, including need-based and academic merit scholarships. Georgia residents may apply for the HOPE Scholarship. Georgia Tech participates in the Academic Common Market at the graduate level only.
