Scope of Program:
B. F. A. candidates at the College for Creative Studies begin their programs with foundation coursework in drawing, 2D and 3D design, digital fundamentals and materials and processes. Entertainment Arts/Animation students may choose one of three tracks: Animation, Game or Video. Students focus on 2D and 3D animation, digital cinema production, character design, environment design, compositing, character animation, motion graphics and special effects. Graphic Design students concentrate on print communications, interactive design, publication design, packaging, web design, and marketing strategies. Illustration students complete coursework in figure illustration, painting, drawing, graphic design, storyboarding, sequential storytelling, children's book illustration and entertainment illustration.
M. F. A. candidates in the College for Creative Studies' Design program take courses in design research, marketing strategies, brand extension, business practices and interactive design. Students participate in graduate seminars and studios and complete a thesis.
A portfolio is required with the undergraduate and graduate applications. Graduate-level students must commit to working with new technologies. All M. F. A. candidates must purchase a Macintosh MacBook Pro laptop computer. Undergraduate Graphic Design students are strongly encouraged to purchase a MacBook Pro laptop. Art and academic achievement scholarships are available.
